AND. Architecture is based in Lower Hutt, undertaking throughout New Zealand. We strive ourselves on client satisfaction and project delivery. We’re keen to be involved - irrespective to the scale of the project.
Working with us is an open conversational experience – we’re open to hearing all ideas and goals, no matter how big or small. We will challenge your thoughts, your ideas, and ultimately ensure we’re working to meet all aspects of the project - both brief and budget. What we do.
Architects in New Zealand are passionate about their work and uphold longstanding traditions of creativity, innovation and professional excellence.
An Architects' professional status is protected by the New Zealand Registered Architects Board. Only registered professionals can call themselves architects. Registration is earned through a combination of academic qualifications, significant practical experience and examination.
The majority of New Zealand architects are members of the New Zealand Institute of Architects (NZIA), a professional body which supports its members and promotes outstanding practice in architecture.
Many people think that an architect is engaged for aesthetic reasons only. In fact, an architect's role goes far beyond design and they will oversee all the significant technical and administrative components of your project.
Ultimately we, as architects, will add value to your building project. We will work as a team to clarify your vision, budget, the feasibility of your ideas utilising expertise of other contractors or professional experts as required.
We apply a mixture of analysis, creativity and problem solving to help your building dream become a reality.
Technology.
Technology is a bit of a weak spot for us – and by that we mean we’re always wanting to try the latest thing! AND. Architecture sees technology as a vital tool in developing and creating the spaces we live and work.
We adopt, where possible, the latest technological tools to aid with all stages of design – from initiation through to completion. With that in mind, we also appreciate that no two projects are the same, and that any technological solution must be selected based on the goals and requirements for each project.
3D Point Scanning, 3D GPS Survey Information, cloud computing and Building Information Modelling (BIM) are only some of the advances we employ across our projects. All these tools integrate seemlessly across a collaborative environment providing effeciencies to each project (AND. Architecture utilises the Autodesk Revit as it’s core software)
Aside from BIM, due to our wide client base, AND. Architecture works with clients across New Zealand (and sometime abroad) on a daily basis – proficiently and effectively. This is done through having the latest video conferencing, screen sharing and collaboration software on hand.
Environment.
As architects, we have the opportunity to influence and shape the environment we live in, for now and the future. Sustainability is a fundamental driver of our designs and processes.
We consider a range of conditions to which each project responds, including sun, wind, land profile, foreground and scale. By working closely with our clients, we are able to understand their needs and develop a sustainable approach, with an intentional goal of minimising environmental impact – both short term and long.

Meet the team.

Shaun Anderson.
Director, Architect (ANZIA), MArch(Prof), BAS
Shaun is a Registered Architect (ANZIA) and the Director of AND. Architecture. In his earlier years he worked at an award winning Architectural Firm in Wellington, before moving on to create AND. Architecture.
Shaun’s experience lies in light commercial, commercial fit-out and residential architecture. Over the years Shaun has managed to develop a strong bond and connections within the industry, and with his clients. He strives on delivering projects which present challenges, be it budgetary, time constraints or requiring complex and considered solutions.
In addition, Shaun has developed a strong name within the Petroleum Industry, taking on the lead for a number of retail providers throughout New Zealand. As we push for a more sustainable future, there is always a push for consideration an incorporation for more sustainable materiality, and the inclusion of renewable energy sources.

Peter Lim.
Architect (ANZIA), BArch
Peter is a registered architect (ANZIA) with extensive experience in residential, commercial, commercial interior design, seismic strengthening and multi-family housing.
He has worked on a number of award-winning Wellington practices and developed strong relationships within the industry.
Peter excels at managing complex and challenging projects with large consultant teams and tight time frames. Peter is detail-oriented and known for his do-it-yourself attitude. He is a competent problem solver. He is increasingly interested in energy modelling of buildings to assess energy efficiency and sustainability and ensure high performance design.

Anna Brown
Interior Designer, BDes (Hons)
After graduating with honours in Fashion, Anna gained extensive experience in Auckland and London before returning to Wellington with a passion for design and a desire to work in interior design.Anna gained valuable interior design experience working with a Wellington-based designer on various residential projects over a number of years, giving her a solid foundation and product knowledge in the industry. Anna enjoys working with clients and creating spaces that are beautiful and reflect their personal style.

Kevin Liu.
Marketing & Design, BDes
Kevin is our marketing and design guru – in charge of all things digital. With a background in the digital marketing and graphic design sector he brings a fresh set of eyes to the Construction Sector, always challenging mindsets and traditional typologies. In addition, Kev is pretty hand on the end of a Camera – having his own photography business. He is our “go to” when the opportunity presents itself to shoot our work. His eye for detail is something we admire.

Christina Anderson.
Office Manager, BA
Christina is our Office Manager and head of accounts. She is the oil to the machine and keeps us all on our toes and things running smoothly! In addition, Christina has completed her Bachelor of Arts and brings a welcoming critique and perspective to our projects.

Steve Kerr.
Signage expert, BCom
Steve is our signage expertise – albeit on a part-time basis. AND. Architecture is involved in many Commercial Projects, both retail and Petroleum, of which have large branding and signage components. With background as a Project Manager for a Nationwide Signage Contractor, Steve’s expertise allows us to efficiently respond to client queries and avoid issues on site.
